It's been a very good day today with much to celebrate! Vicky Pattison won I'm a Celebrity!
I have loved her through the series and her surprise tonight that people might like her. "I didn't think they would know who I was, just a bit of a knob."
In other good news to celebrate, we had a fab nativity this morning, our last in our poorly building, with loads of children, and we heard potential news to celebrate about our short term and long term future, which is very exciting! In my largest church, we had a Messy Christmas party which went brilliantly, we had several new families today who really appreciated the afternoon. Across the Circuit, I heard today that our town centre church which opened its doors as the town Christmas lights were switched on, had over 140 people in the building. I also heard today that we might well start Messy Church in Rye next year and we are definitely starting an after school club in the primary school. Wow!
Often in church circles, we focus on the 2% of negativity and complaint and we don't celebrate enough the people who are lovely and who help us get on, and we don't stop to affirm what God intends for us. The Advent season is surely to have our eyes opened to possibilities we never thought possible. So, good on Vicky Pattison I say, good on community centres and property developers, good on folk wanting to open doors and try reaching out, good on Messy Church and families and children opening our eyes to a different way of doing this and blowing a new spirit in our church at Calvert and good on potential partners to work with a small church which is keen to do more. My litttle Circuit is rocking and rolling and today is a brilliant day - we are awash with celebration!
Advent for me is about dreams and hopes and sometimes God saying it can go well, open your eyes, it will be okay and more than okay.
Perhaps all of us need to believe a bit more.
And perhaps we need to give more energy and attention and support to the Vicky's of the world and less to the Lady C's!
